Life is a journey; the way is often difficult, the problems very real. Sadly, many people think that the way to contentment and success is to live their own lives their own way. In essence, they try to be their own Shepherd. This may seem successful for a time, but it is empty and broken. Both prosperity and poverty bring their own heartaches and pain. Look around this world, see the lack of contentment, the loneliness, broken homes, attempts at escapism, the drug abuse, and so much unhappiness. This has not been working out too well. But David was not aimlessly adrift. Thinking of his experience as a Shepherd, by the Holy Spirit, he saw himself as if a sheep, as one who had been cared for and guided throughout his life by a personal Shepherd who watched over him and led him safely day by day.

We live in a very difficult world I am sure no one would dispute that. There is rebellion against God everywhere. We see and experience the effects of sin. Amidst all the trials and the discouragement and difficulties of life how is it possible for us to persevere as disciples of Jesus Christ, to keep going on the narrow way which leads to eternal life?

The time of testing continued. The enemies logic was clearly set out. How would the KIng of Judah respond?

How do you view the people around you in society? There is much to learn from the ministry and teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ.
